traveller's guide to Canada's Arctic.

Business and trade takes a number of forms, with the majority employer being government -- federal, territorial, regional and local - then mining and tourism. Education accounts for 5% of the government employees, with the running and development of governments as a close second. Housing and facility development accounts for ongoing construction. Small business operations provide services to government and mining sectors while allowing for the provisions of services for visitors to the area.

Accommodation, transportation, food and information services are needed for both business and leisure travellers. Commercial fish and country food harvests contribute to both the local food supply and the export of gourmet treats. Try your hand at catching a trophy-size Arctic Char or Lake Trout, or drop in to the local processing plant and pick up musk-ox jerky, smoked char, or caribou sausage.
