Gourmet food in the traditional and non-traditional sense (depending
on whose tradition it is). Try double-smoked Arctic Char to change your
interest in what you have with your bagels and cream cheese. Savour the
flavour of caribou steaks and stew, scallops and giant shrimp fresh from
the frozen arctic waters. Sink your teeth into caribou and musk-ox jerky,
maybe even try muktuk or Quaqq; the restaurants have country food on the
menu.
If you are in Iqaluit in March plan to attend the Arctic
Foods Celebration held each year in conjunction with the Nunavut
Trade Show which showcases it.
